2-2-3, week on week off and every other weekend custody calendars for 2026 (free printable + Excel).

Three common rotation patterns, already filled in night by night for 2026 and 2027 from an example start date. Each letter is the parent the child sleeps at that night, and every month shows the count. In the spreadsheet you type your own start date and every night re-fills. No sign-up, no email.

These are examples, not recommendations. Each calendar starts from an example date, and A and B are placeholders. Your own start date, exchange day and who is A or B are likely different: set them in the spreadsheet, or mark your own nights on the blank calendar.

Your order, parenting plan or local rules control, including holidays, school breaks and how overnights are counted, which can differ by order or court. These calendars don’t say which schedule to choose or how a court decides.

If a protective order or a safety plan covers exchanges, follow the order and your safety plan first. A calendar on a shared phone, computer or cloud account can show someone else where you and your child will be. A local domestic violence advocate can help you plan safe exchanges.

If you’re in danger, call 911. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is available 24/7 at 1-800-799-7233, or text START to 88788 (thehotline.org).

2-2-3 custody calendar 2026 (printable + Excel)

A 2-2-3 rotation repeats every 14 nights: 2 nights with one parent, 2 with the other, then 3 with the first. The next week the order flips, so each parent has 7 of every 14 nights and the three-night stretch alternates between the parents. Where it falls depends on the start day: with a Monday start, as in the example, it is Friday to Sunday.

Week on, week off custody calendar 2026 (alternating weeks template)

An alternating weeks rotation (often called week on, week off or 7-7) is 7 nights in a row with one parent, then 7 nights in a row with the other, with one exchange on the same weekday each week. The example uses a Friday exchange; set your own exchange day by changing the start date in the spreadsheet.

Every other weekend custody calendar 2026 (printable + Excel)

In this example, B has Friday and Saturday night every second weekend and A has the other 12 of every 14 nights. Weekends are written in many different ways: some include Sunday night, and some schedules add a midweek overnight. The spreadsheet lets you change the pattern to match the wording in your order.

Set your own start date or swap A and B

Layout and arithmetic only. These steps change what the calendar shows; they don’t say what your schedule should be.

  • Type night 1 of your cycle. On the spreadsheet’s Start here sheet, type the date of the first night of your rotation as your order or agreement describes it. Both year sheets re-fill, and the first 14 nights show underneath so you can check them.
  • Swap A and B.Type the parent names the other way round in the key, or swap the letters in the pattern cell (for example AABBAAABBAABBB becomes BBAABBBAABBAAA).
  • Edit the pattern. The pattern cell is one letter per night, repeating. The Start here sheet lists the three patterns on this page plus a Friday-to-Sunday weekend version; type the one that matches the wording in your order.
  • Record swaps and holidays.Type A or B over a night to record a one-off change (that night stops following the pattern), and write the date you agreed it in the key.
  • Print your version. The PDFs use the example dates. Print the year sheet from the spreadsheet, or mark the blank 2026–2027 calendar by hand.
  • Check the totals. Each month shows the A and B count, and the year sheet shows each parent’s share. If a number looks wrong, look for a missed or doubled night.

Questions about the pattern calendars

What is a 2-2-3 custody schedule?

A 2-2-3 schedule is a repeating 14-night rotation: 2 nights with one parent, 2 with the other, then 3 with the first. The next week the order flips. Over each 14 nights both parents have 7, and the three-night stretch alternates. Where it falls depends on the start day: with a Monday start it is Friday to Sunday night. Orders word and time it in different ways, so follow the wording in yours.

What does a week on, week off schedule look like on a calendar?

Blocks of 7 nights alternate between the parents, with one exchange on the same weekday each week. In the example the exchange is on a Friday, so each parent’s block runs Friday night through Thursday night. In the spreadsheet, change the start date to move the exchange day.

How many nights is every other weekend?

In this example, B has Friday and Saturday nights every second weekend: 2 of every 14 nights, which comes to 52 nights in 2026. If a weekend in your order includes Sunday night, or your schedule adds midweek overnights, the count is different. Type the pattern that matches your order into the spreadsheet and it recounts.

How do I count overnights?

Each letter is the parent whose home the child sleeps at that night. The spreadsheet counts the A and B nights for each month and for the year and shows each parent’s share. It is simple arithmetic: how overnights are counted can differ by order or court, for example for child support, so check what your order or local rules say.

Can I change the start day or swap A and B?

Yes, in the spreadsheet. On the Start here sheet, type your own cycle start date (night 1) and the whole year re-fills. To swap A and B, type the parent names the other way round in the key, or swap the letters in the pattern cell. To record a one-off swap, type A or B over that night. The PDFs are printed from the example start date; for your own dates on paper, print the spreadsheet or use the blank calendar.

Do the spreadsheets work in Google Sheets?

Yes. Upload the .xlsx file to Google Drive and open it with Google Sheets. The start date, the pattern cell, the A and B colours and the totals use ordinary spreadsheet formulas that Google Sheets and Excel both run.

Do these calendars recommend a schedule?

No. They show how three common patterns lay out over a year, and the free parenting time calculator draws others so you can see the arithmetic. Which schedule fits a family is for the parents, a mediator or the court to work out, and your order, parenting plan or local rules control. For advice about your situation, talk with a licensed attorney or a mediator where you live.

Is this a court form or legal advice?

No. These are planning and record-keeping calendars. They are not court-approved forms and not any court’s or state’s standard schedule, and they don’t say what to ask for, what to file or how a court decides.
